Do you have a passion in life? What is it? …. I’ll give you a second to think.
Post them here:
What is your passion in life?
My passion(s) - family and pets, martial arts, strength, internet.
I wonder how many of you out there actually know what your passion is and/or are actually pursuing it? I have someone close to me, who’ve I’ve asked this question to a few times. The answer is typically “I don’t know” or something very vague. It actually makes me sad to hear it and I believe frustrates the person when I ask.
One of the questions that is supposed to help find your passion is “What you would do in life if you didn’t have to worry about money and had everything you’ve ever wanted?” I think about this all the time. I would open a martial arts gym, fill it with the best training equipment, mats, etc. and train. Then after I’m training, I would geek out on the internet trying to be successful there. My wife and I would travel and I’d live on a HUGE farm with a pack of dogs, birds, and other animals. Man that just gets me excited thinking about it. The thing is, I think I can do it too.
The hard part I guess is trying to merge your passion into your “real life”. We all have to work, pay those bills, and survive the daily grind. It’s part of life. But everyday I believe you should do SOMETHING that relates to your dreams and passions. If you’ve always wanted to … play guitar. Take guitar lessons once a week. Start down that path. You don’t have to go crazy trying to achieve everything you want at once. Break it down into something small and manageable. I always wanted to be a great martial artist. I started small, I took a class and it grew from there. Same thing with the internet. I was intrigued by it and wanted to be successful at it. I started small, I learned how to open a site and it grew from there.
The hardest part is taking that first step. But BELIEVE me, once you do, it will change you. You will now be pursuing your dreams and passions. Thats huge my friend.
Suck Less At: Finding and PURSUING passion in life

The first step in my mind is to stop separating your passions from your real life. Just the fact that people think in terms of your “real life” can be self defeating. What this implies is that there is a negative separation between how you wish to live your life and how you are living your life. Remember - you make all the choices. Married or not - kids or not - bills or not - everything is up to you. Your passions and your life must be a single thing or you will forever have a life in contention. Look at all aspects of your life and see how to integrate them. Also - and this is a big one - dont fool yourself. Lets say you love to golf. You might think - damn, if I could just golf all day instead of having my life interrupted by work and family responsibilities - I would love life. Of course you wouldnt. Golfing every day would begin to seem like work. Imaging yourself doing what you loved - every day - day after day - 6,7,8 hours a day. IT WOULD SUCK. And you are trying to Suck Less. What you need to find in the balance - the recipe - the perfect combination. Then you will have an integrated life.

That makes a lot of sense. I can see how the thought of real-life can be defeating.
To me the balance would be training, but mix it with other things I love. For example, one of my work dreams is to be successful enough in the internet business that I don’t have to go to a physical office, work designated hours, etc. I would like to make my own schedule and time. That way I can enjoy my other passions more, such as training. I train (lifting) 5 days a week now, but I am always strapped for time there. If I had another 30-45 minutes a day I would be happier. Same with martial arts. I wish I had to time and resources to be training with people more often.
My recipe is still being worked on I guess
I know the result would be great, its just finding out how to get there.
